China is one of the world's most important PV panel supplier. In addition, the nation is also focusing on its own development, struggling to meet stricter emission standards and boosting the development of renewables.
Under these circumstances, the implementation of a 18 MW solar plant in Dunhuang, Gansu Province, located in west
China represents a new reason of excitement for people and companies eager to use cheaper, eco-friendly power.
Its developers have recently announced the facility, occupying no less than 400,000 square meters and using 76,000 modules distributed by JinkoSolar, an important Chinese manufacturer of solar power products, has started supplying the grid with green energy.
The completion of this project is praised by Dunhuang authorities, mostly because the city is currently considered a hot spot for solar power projects, since it benefits from an average sunshine time of 3,362 hours, enough to convince potential investors that the region is more than suitable for building solar power plants.
So far, Gansu offers more than 100MW of clean energy, approximately one eight of China's entire solar capacity, estimated at 768MW, helping businesses save money and reduce fossil fuel usage.
Since the Chinese government is favoring the photovoltaic industry, its expansion could come naturally in the near future, pushing the country one step ahead in the global solar competition.
"Solar power has become one of the most efficient energy solutions. I am very pleased to see the role our products have played in this process. We are witnessing the tremendous support for the photovoltaic industry from the government, developers and investors in China," explained JinkoSolar chairman, David Li.
