The success of the GTA series already became notorious in the gaming industry. Violent, shameless and controversial, GTA imposed as one of the most successful games throughout the past several years. Sales boost whenever the magic formula GTA is spelled, regardless of the PC or console environment.

But why race? The recent list of Ubisoft promised releases for 2005 - 2006, July -September hosts 187: Ride or Die, the title of which game is inspired in the homicide code of the US police.

187: Ride or Die tells the story of an urban hero, Buck, a character living on the edge on a daily basis while trying to survive on the West Coast streets. The game is a combat racing game where car racing, shooting and fighting between gangs are a reality as casual as supermarket shopping.

The hero must survive all challenges, as the game implies a scoring system in which each surpassed challenge boosts character's reputation, without guaranteeing survival throughout the next day.

The player has more than 30 cars for defeating the enemy, starting with the classics and ending with speedsters, and about 20 different weapons ranging from pistols and shotguns to automatic weapons and Molotov cocktails.

It already resembles a GTA, doesn't it? What remains to be sees is the news that 187: Ride or Die will bring in order to make the GTA lovers give up the notorious title.
