The gold rush was an interesting historical event that pushed thousands of people to abandon their homes in order to peruse the mystique of riches.

If you, too, would like to see what it feels like to be a “gold digger” (take the term literally) and you’re also the proud owner of a Kindle Fire tablet, then you should know a new game has just made it in the Amazon App Store.

The app is called 1849 and, naturally, it takes place in the same year in California and players are invited to head west in order to seek out glory and riches.

Basically, 1849 is a city management game, which lets you build your own mining town. You’ll then have to populate it with workers, but you’ll also need to feed them, keep them safe and in good spirits.

When your town is developed enough, you can also set up trade networks and help your city turn into one of the loftiest in California.

And now Kindle Fire owners can download the game from the Amazon App store for $4.49 / €3.68. If you’re not a Kindle Fire user, don’t worry, the 1849 app is also available for Android tablets and for the iPad, as well.
