Gaming laptops aren't known for being overly easy to log around, but Razer did make a visible effort to make the Blade more portable than most, though this may have led to the rather steep price tag of $2,800.

The word 'blade' is one which has been consistently showing up on many layers of the IT industry, like the server market, consumer electronics, PCs, etc.

One of the companies to most recently utilize it is Razer, whose eponymous notebook has made its appearance.

Based on an Intel Core i7-2640M CPUs (clocked at 2.8 GHz), the notebook measures 17.3 inches and has an LCD with a native resolution of 1,920 x 1,080 pixels (Full HD).

8 GB of RAM (random access memory) are present, as is an NVIDIA GeForce GT 555M discrete graphics card, whose own dedicated memory is 2 GB.

"Powered by an advanced NVIDIA GeForce GPU with award winning NVIDIA Optimus technology, the Razer Blade has the muscle to run cutting edge games with intense graphics while still offering amazing portability," said Rene Haas, general manager of Notebook Products, NVIDIA.

"The Razer Blade was designed to give gamers a laptop they could truly use on the go," added Min-Liang Tan, CEO and Creative Director, Razer. "Its sleek, lightweight aluminum construction makes it the thinnest 17-inch gaming laptop available today."

In addition to the above, as well as the expected connectivity and I/O components (WiFi, Gigabit Ethernet, USB 3.0, webcam, HDMI), the Razer Blade boasts a hard disk drive (HDD) or 320 GB and the Switchblade User Interface .

Said UI has ten dynamic adaptive tactile keys and a color LCD of 800 x 480 pixels for displaying in-game info (has multi-touch support).

"The Switchblade User Interface on the Razer Blade is a revolutionary innovation that truly defines the new standard for gaming experiences on a laptop," said Min-Liang Tan.

"We're proud to co-develop this revolutionary gaming laptop with Razer," said Mooly Eden, VP and general manager of the PC Client Group, Intel. "Utilizing our fast Intel CoreTM i7 processor, the Razer Blade delivers top-class gaming performance in a portable form factor."
