According to some trustful French sources, the Cowon could be one of the first media player makers to jump to 16 GB. Both D2 and iAudio 7 may see the upgrade before the end of the year, while the existing SD HC card slot on the D2 player could also expand its capacity even further to at least 24 GB, with today's cards and some improvements.

The D2 player reveals a 2.5-inch color LCD with an innovative touch-sensitive interface, designed to maximize the viewing experience.

According to Francis Choi, senior marketing manager at COWON America: "the D2 has gained tremendous traction with our devoted fans and general consumers since its introduction to the U.S. market at CES 2007. The D2 is one of the most compact PMPs with a touch-screen interface on the market, a combination that allows users to navigate through their digital media content and FM radio with their fingertips. Boasting a blend of modern design and key features, including an expansive digital media format support and memory card expansion slot, the COWON D2 was designed to appeal to both everyday users and discriminating digital media enthusiasts."

The Cowon D2 comes available in two color versions like black and white, and different storage capacities of 2GB or 4GB flash memory configurations, each with a 2.5 inch, 16 million color, QVGA of 320 x 240 pixels resolution LCD.

The player's display also functions as a touch-sensitive interface with transparent overlay navigation, which is visible during audio and video playback. Additionally, detailed information such as file size, pixel and format, can be viewed while browsing through digital media files with fingertips or the included "multi-purpose stylus/kickstand".

A unique feature of this player is the expansion card slot that supports SD/MMC/SDHC and MMC plus memory cards formats, which enable easier file transfer from and to other digital devices such as digital cameras, PDAs and more.

Overall, pricing and availability details were not released yet. There are rumors that the latest iAudio X7 is announced for this September, with an incredible 40GB and 80GB storage capacity- "Wow!".
