A headline from MacNN.com might bring smiles on the faces of all those that want to purchase a Mac Pro...

Several days ago, MacNN published an article about the latest deals offered by Apple. Well, where there is a possibility to spend less money, everyone pays attention, especially when it comes to Apple.

Last week there were major cuts in the prices of refurbished iPods. Some prices were dropped more than 50%, and that means a real bargain. After such news, when some saw the "save" tag on the refurbished Macs, they thought that they could get such a "tiger" at a kitty's price. Well? not really.

There are actual deals in the Mac Pro's department, some really good ones, but not as substantial as in the case of the iPods. If in the case of the iPod there was even a 61% save, regarding Macs, there are only 13-15% saves off the original prices.

The deals include many refurbished models, starting with the beast: Refurbished Mac Pro Quad 3.0GHz Intel Xeon that features two 3.0GHz Dual-Core Intel Xeon processors, 2GB (4 x 512MB) memory (667MHz DDR2 fully-buffered DIMM ECC), 250GB Serial ATA 3Gb/s 7200-rpm hard drive, 16x SuperDrive (double-layer) and an ATI Radeon X1900 XT graphics with 512MB memory. It can be bought with $3,299. This is about $500 off from the original price. Not as much as some might have hopped, but it's still a pretty good deal.

Other cuts in prices are for the refurbished Mac Pro Quad 2.66GHz Intel Xeon where $300 from the original price were dropped and for the iMacs, one might get $400-500 off the original price, depending on the model. This is not really a disappointment, as $500 off is a huge deal, but referring to the percentage, it's not that much and for some, a Mac is still to expensive making a PC being a more suitable choice for them. Not good!

The huge deals, however, are for the refurbished displays. This is where jaws start dropping down to the floor.

Refurbished Apple Cinema Display (20-inch flat panel w/ aluminum enclosure) only $599. That's $700 off from the original $1,299 price. Refurbished Apple Cinema HD Display (30-inch flat panel w/ aluminum enclosure) for $1,699 from the original $3,299 price. That is a $1,600 save!!!

For every refurbished item, Apple offers the Protection Plan which extends the complimentary support to three years of world-class support service.
