If you're one of those users who have already made the move to Windows 8 or Windows 8.1, you most likely open the Windows Store on a regular basis searching for new Metro apps, no matter if you're running the modern platform on a PC or on a tablet.

Well, if this is the case, then it's worth knowing that the number of apps available on Windows 8 is continuously growing, so today, there are more than 160,000 items listed for download in the Windows Store.

The statistics provided by MetroStore Scanner, an unofficial service that keeps an eye on the apps available for download on Windows 8, the number of tools designed to be used in the Modern UI is growing bigger every month, which could be an indication that developers have noticed the opportunity and are now trying to take advantage of it by launching apps on this new OS version.

The majority of these apps are available with a freeware version and are included in the games category, but paid apps and solutions in some other sections, such as social and multimedia, are also becoming much more popular.

Microsoft hasn't yet commented on this new milestone, but I'm pretty sure that the company is very pleased with this given that Windows 8 is yet to take off.
