More and more violent content appearing on YouTube

Although it usually removes this type of videos quite quickly, YouTube tends to become the ideal place for uploading violent clips in which kids and teenagers beat other persons mercilessly. It's exactly the case with Victoria Lindsay, a 16-year-old girl from Florida, who was beaten by some of her (apparently) friends and recorded in order to be uploaded on YouTube. And in case the term "beaten" doesn't ring any bell to you, find out that, a week after she went to hospital, she wasn't able to use her left eye and ear.

The reason of the fight isn't quite clear but no less than 8 persons, 7 teenagers and an adult, were arrested. According to the girl's parents, Victoria Lindsay was living with her friends due to some family problems, but it all seemed to go pretty well.

"When I saw my daughter in the emergency room, I didn't recognize my own daughter. She was in fear for her life. She thought she was going to die," Patrick Lindsay, Victoria's father, said according to The Ledger.

As expected, the clip posted on YouTube brought the video sharing service in the spotlights, lots of people considering that its owners should block such clips from appearing on the web.

"As far as I am concerned, MySpace is the anti-Christ for children. I hope this comes to a final resolution. I am not going to stop here," Patrick Lindsay said according to the same source. "This is animalistic behavior hat is pack mentality. It's incumbent upon YouTube and MySpace to make drastic changes. If we desensitize kids to this kind of beating today, what's next?" Polk Sheriff Grady Judd added.

Now, I wonder if there's something to do about this type of videos because it is not the first time when violence hits YouTube and I bet it will not the last time either...
