New Jersey teenager Kara Alongi posted an alarming Tweet making her parents and media outlets believe she had been kidnapped. She tweeted that there was a strange man in her house, and that the man was close to finding her, and then broke off all communication.
The girl's desperate plea for help was posted on Sunday night. “Call 911,” she had written, pushing her family and friends to the point where they started a massive search. Media outlets helped spread the news about her kidnapping.
Alongi's alleged kidnapping became a viral topic on twitter. Her post trended at number three worldwide, and her profile amassed 96,000 followers in 2 days. A search party of 20 friends and neighbors was formed to look for the girl.
It turns out Alongi left voluntarily, the Clark Patch revealed. A surveillance video at the Rahway train station in Clark, N.J., caught footage of her waiting for a train that evening.
Kara Alongi boarded a 6:47 p.m. train this Sunday, presumably heading north. Her family suspects that the girl finds herself in New York City, and has already put up flyers in Penn station.
Even though it became apparent that the teenager left out of her own free will, family members are still concerned about what they consider unusual behavior for Kara. She has not contacted them since her disappearance.
All those who can provide information about the girl's whereabouts are invited to contact the Clark Police station. She is 5'3'' (1.6 m), with blonde hair and hazel eyes, and weighs approximately 105 lbs.
At the time of her departure, she was wearing a blue Eastpack backpack, a brown leather tote bag, blue jeggings and either a navy blue "Clark Cougar's" t-shirt with the number 2 and the name "Alongi" written on the back or a blue "Colonia Patriots" t-shirt with the letter "C" on the back.
