14 DAY TRIAL // After countless rumors of Apple extending the MacBook Air line to include a bigger, 15-inch version with (presumably) Pro-level specifications, sources in Asia are now claiming that Cupertino is geared towards a Q1 2012 launch.
Not one but three MacBook Air models will be on sale starting next year, said the sources from the upstream supply chain cited by Digitimes, and the 15-incher is the key addition to the ultra-thin lineup.
Why? Because competition is scrambling to achieve Air-like designs with even more power to boot, and Apple isn't taking it mildly.
The Mac maker is reportedly set to launch its new MacBook Air series with panel sizes of 11.6-inch, 13.3-inch and 15-inch and “will directly compete against ultrabooks from PC brand vendors,” the sources said.
To sweeten the pot even further, the sources added, Apple will start dropping the prices for its existing MacBook Airs before the launch.
