Just a concept phone for now

You've probably seen so many concept phones so far that none of them seems all that special anymore. In this case, it's not the actual phone that's surprising, but its designer, a 15-year-old Korean student that is currently studying in Canada. The youngster came up with the 'Butterfly'- a concept phone that would surely become an actual iPhone-killer if ever to become an actual product. The concept was a contest entry that the student made for a high school design competition focused on social networking.

The Butterfly comes in a slider form factor, but comparing it to your regular phones, this one slides out horizontally. It includes a huge touchscreen (as usual), camera, SD card slot and others. In the end, it doesn't even matter what the phone packs, as long as it was designed by a teenager, because, as young as the Korean is, we're bound to see many more amazing concept phones from him.

According to the 15-year-old, the Butterfly is "a social networking device that was designed to give the optimal experience of being connected to an educational lifestyle for the teenage audience". Long story short, it's a device made by a youngster aiming to suit the needs of a young audience.

It is meant to function as a GSM phone with WiFi connectivity and should provide students with the possibility of getting recent updates from their school, keeping in touch with their friends and colleagues, access school resources or browse the web. The Butterfly also sports a very stylish design and, to match the name, it also features a butterfly stamped on the back. Chances of this concept phone ever becoming reality are very slim. But, as usual, it is nice to see what today's young designers can offer.
