Good for those who just want to preserve a degree of normalcy

Almost everyone on the IT market is harping about change of tastes, trends and direction, but Wortmann is like an immovable object in the middle of the storm.

Apparently uninterested in all the Windows 8 and ultrabook mayhem, the company dryly released the Terra Mobile 1541 Pro notebook.

Featuring the Windows 7 professional 64-bit operating system, it will do well in the hands of those that only need a PC so they can go back to work in peace.

That does not mean the laptop is underpowered though. While the basic configuration sold for €759 / $759-990 is modest in that regard, the hardware can actually be quite potent.

The LCD of 15.6 inches has a Full HD resolution (1920 x 1080) pixels in all instances, while the CPU (Core i3/i5/i7) can be backed by up to 16 GB of RAM and an HDD of up to 1 TB. Also, an SSD of 256 GB can be chosen instead.

Wortmann also gave the new Terra Mobile PC an ExpressCard slot, three USB 3.0 ports, Gigabit Ethernet, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and video ports (HDMI and D-Sub).

German customers should be able to order the item from the company or an online store.
