Microsoft is offering customers a comprehensive collection of resources designed to help them get through a variety of problems related to Windows, Office, Internet Explorer, the company’s server products, etc. There are scenarios in which Microsoft Support cannot really provide answers to issues, simply because they might not be support problems.

This is where the Microsoft Professional Advisory Services come in. The software giant has re-launched the Professional Advisory Services, now with a set of more than 140 free self-help packages for customers.

Issues covered by the self-help resources range from design, to development and deployment, but also focus on security and performance, according to Microsoft’s Rachel Collier.

The resources “enable you to proactively meet your infrastructure needs for some of the more common advisory service scenarios,” Collier explained.

“Typical cases involve providing recommendations and best practices for design, development and deployment, leveraging Microsoft Products and Technologies. The delivery time for Advisory Services is generally 10 hours or less and consists of a specific service scope.

“It is designed for Developers, IT Professionals and SMB customers who do not require traditional onsite consulting or sustained account management services that are available from other Microsoft support options,” she added.

Customers that find they require more than Assisted Support Options are capable of delivering, or that need answers for questions related to building and deployment solutions can turn to the Microsoft Professional Advisory Services for guidance.

The software giant explains that the scenarios covered by the self-help packages cover topics such as “migration, product customization, performance degradation analysis, deployment training, scaling infrastructure, server recovery, optimization, supportability, risk analysis, extensibility, architecture, and knowledge transfer.”

It must be underlined that Microsoft is perfectly capable of providing consultative assistance in a variety of scenarios on top of the self-help packages that the company is providing to customers.
