14-Year-Old Swedish girl Lovisa Nystrand suffered through the ordeal of being raped and keeping it a secret, in order to avoid public scrutiny.

As rumors arose, she decided to make her experience public, an initiative for which she has been commended by many.

Hundreds of response videos popped up when the girl's video admission hit YouTube, after being originally posted on Facebook.

She uses cards to tell the story of how, one day, she went out for a walk with a 19-year-old boy, a friend of the family's.

That August 21 night, he took advantage of the young girl, in a secluded area in the country side of Linköping, Sweden.

She reported the incident and, as the man was arrested, she faced rumors and threats, the Expressen reports.

She decided to expose the man, in an effort to raise awareness and inspire other reluctant rape victims to do the same. Her attacker was tried and convicted for raping the minor on Wednesday.

“I want girls my age to have the courage to report incidents like this,” she explains.

Blogger Daniel Drake at Media Hacker took the time to translate her words:

“My name is Lovisa. I am 14. Just 14 years and 4 months. I have been through something terrible. Which I will suffer with for the rest of my life. My entire life. Just over a month ago, I was Raped. I remember everything. I cried and was bloody. It is the worst thing I have been through. Since then, there have been many sleepless nights. For a while I sensed nothing. I was so weak. Now I am trying to think about the future.[...] I have been offended, threateneded and scalded by some But how do I put up with all of this? Oh yes! Because I have my wonderful friends. I love you. And most of all my nice family. We are all strong,” Lovisa says.
