Last week, we learned that 12 individuals suspected of being hacktivists were arrested by authorities in Turkey. It turns out that a total of 14 alleged members of the RedHack group and Anonymous have been detained.

According to World Bulletin, on Monday, the suspects were presented before the Ankara Courthouse.

They have been arrested by the Ankara Police Department's Cyber Crime Units in various cities, including Ankara, Denizli, Diyarbakır, Ordu, Kahramanmaraş, Bursa and Mersin.

They’re accused of being involved in hacker attacks against various government websites.

In the meantime, RedHack says that none of the arrested people are members of the hacktivist group. They claim that the government is simply trying to silence the opposition and anti-government protesters.

“Government's attempts to silence RedHack have been unsuccessful and that’s why they are trying new tactics to cut the support to RedHack. But what they don't realize is that RedHack have become the RedPeople now,” the hackers said.

I’ve asked one of the group’s members if they plan on retaliating against the government’s actions. However, he said he could not provide any information for the time being.
