Common sense would dictate it takes experience and lots of practice to get all the know-how to be a pure and respected fashionista, but, for Tavi Gevinson, it all comes naturally. The 13-year-old born in Chicago and running a blog called Style Rookie has not only managed to increase her audience to 1.5 million hits a month, but also to turn herself into the latest darling of the fashion industry.

Just recently, Tavi was to be found in the front row of all the hot shows at the New York Fashion Week, a feat even veteran fashion editors envy her for. However, it’s not just her writing that’s getting fashion insiders singing her praises, but also her unmistakable style. While her mates are cramming for tests, Tavi is busy customizing designer pieces for an image that has been labeled anything from quirky to highly innovative.

Then again, this has always been Tavi’s goal. She doesn’t see herself as a fashionista, though, but rather as a “dork” who spends most of her time indoors trying outfits and making them more interesting. The fashion industry has begun to pay more attention to her because, unlike even professional models, she has learned that fashion can be a form of art, an expression of the self that can make even “layman” stop short and gawk. In all fairness, when Tavi steps into a room, all eyes are on her, they say, because of her love for fancy headwear and colorful accessories.

“As I said earlier, the Nazarites wore just enough to keep them warm, believing that that was the wish of God. Over this past year I have become increasingly interested in clothing, and have developed a clearer understanding of the idea that clothing can be art... Using fashion as self-expression can go beyond wearing a shirt with a slogan, as clothing has the ability to evoke an entire feel, or atmosphere, or emotion, or world.” Tavi writes in a post on her blog.

Tavi started blogging on fashion almost two years ago. Since then, as already noted above, her audience has continued to increase and she’s now being poised as the upcoming hit of the fashion industry. Several companies have already contacted her to be the face of their children’s lines, but some media outlets see in her more than just a model: at 13, Tavi Gevinson stands excellent chances of becoming the next muse of prestigious fashion houses.

I so agree with "Uhhh...." ! I mean, I love clothes and I love designing and shopping and shoes... and you get the picture. But seriously, you reallie need to go school and be like, educated. You can't just skip school like that... Like... Reallie... And it's not the best to get advice from someone who's like, younger than you, no matter how good she is with clothes. You need advice from someone more sophisticated and experienced. Like . omgosh; BUBZBEAUTY. she's like the BEST.!

Age is irrelevant in most things in life. Have you read this girl's blog? She's brimming over with intelligence and writing with skill most her seniors should be envious of. Aside from that, fashion is art, there are people who are naturally suited for it, and those that even with proper eduction cannot even begin to understand it. She appears to be the former.

Child, for with your writing skills there is nothing else I can consider you to be, one last word: Grammar.

REPLYING TO "uhm..": you need to be educated. YOU ARE SPELLING "really" WRONG. it is spelt really, not "reallie". get a life! and tavi rocks, ok? and saying like is so annoying. "are you, like, a total VALLEy GIRL or, like, something? GET A FRICKIN LIFE!!!!!!!!!!!

I think you all need to stop being jerks. Inspiration comes from EVERYWHERE, and just because some people don't find Abercrombie and Hollister inspiring, doesn't mean you should bag on people's opinions. She dresses differently, and quite frankly I think it's awesome. She's incredibly smart and talented. There is such thing as homeschooling, there are other forms of education. She could make a career out of this because she's pretty kick-ass if you ask me. &I'm 14. :P

Tavi does not have the desirable qualities that fashion was inspired by such as beauty, poise, and sophistication. Tovi brings something new 2 the table and expresses that she is excentric and quirky, but whose not? Tovi in my eyes is everything the industry needs via a breath of fresh air.............

Tavi does go to school. Nowhere in the article does it say she dropped out. When it says, "While her mates are cramming for tests, Tavi is busy customizing designer pieces for an image that has been labeled anything from quirky to highly innovative", the writer is just using this to compare her to her classmates.

... I loved Tavi. I went through a Tavi phase before. I raved and drooled over everything she posted, but now... I don't know... It seems like her blog is less about fashion, which wouldn't be a problem, but ...I don't really know. I guess I miss her outfit posts, but more than that, it's just starting to become... Overrated I guess? Just saying. I know she's into grandma sweaters and all, but I miss her other outfits.
