14 DAY TRIAL // According to the latest news on the Web, South Korean mobile phone maker Samsung is determined to get its Samsung M8920 Monaco mobile phone on the market in the late third quarter of the ongoing year. For those who do not know it already, the handset is supposedly the second mobile phone from the company to feature a high-quality 12-megapixel photo snapper.
Samsung, which has recently unveiled officially its first 12MP behemoth, the Samsung Pixon12, hasn't said any word on the rumored M8920, yet it seems that some people who are familiar with the company's plans have stated recently that the device is real and will come to the shelves in said period. One other thing that should be mentioned is that, unlike Pixon12, the new handset is expected to feature a 3X optical zoom (Pixon12 only comes with digital zoom).
As anyone would expect, when it comes to the Samsung M8920 Monaco the main focus is on its high-end photo snapper, which should include both LED and xenon flash units, along with other technologies that would make the handset a strong competitor against a wide array of mid-range cameras available on the market. The manufacturer might announce the handset at the upcoming Samsung Unlocked event next week, which will be held in London, Dubai and Singapore, yet these are only speculations at this point.
In related news, we also learn that the mobile phone maker could release into the wild the recently spotted Samsung i8000 Omnia2, sometime in October. The successor of the popular Windows Mobile-powered Samsung Omnia will come with the same operating system, while boasting an 8.1MP camera and a 3.7-inch WVGA TFT touchscreen.
In addition, the device should also sport Samsung's TouchWiz user interface, a Qualcomm processor, a wide range of connectivity options, as well as 150 MB of internal memory and a microSD memory card slot. It remains to be seen whether Samsung will announce one of these handsets – or, who knows, maybe both of them will become official – at the upcoming events.
