The advanced photo and video cameras currently available on the market require plenty of space for storing HD videos or large-size photos, not to mention some high data transfer rates as well, and that's exactly the reason why SanDisk brought to this year's CES a brand-new CF card model, delivering extreme capabilities. The storage solution in question, namely the SanDisk Extreme Pro CompactFlash card, features 128 gigabytes (GB) of storage and up to 100 megabyte per second (MB/sec) write speeds, which should make it quite interesting for the owners of high-end, video-capable DSLRs.

According to SanDisk, the memory card is quite well-suited for imaging applications requiring Full HD 1920x1080 resolution (including 3D content), up to 50Mbps bit rate and 4:2:2 color sampling, while the Video Performance Guarantee feature allows for Full HD video recording at a sustained 20MB/sec write speed.

Additional features worth mentioning include the SanDisk's proprietary Power Core controller, that distributes data across the card more rapidly and efficiently, and the UDMA-7 interface, that allows for maximum data transfer between card and camera.

Last, but certainly not least, it's also important to point out that the card features RTV silicone coating for added protection, which should really come in handy, taking into account the often rough conditions photographers are faced with during their normal activity.

"No other product on the market can match our new card's combination of speed and storage capacity," said Susan Park, director, product marketing, SanDisk, adding that "by consistently pushing the boundaries of flash innovation, we are able to develop advanced products not found anywhere else."

Now, as you all might expect, pricing for such an extreme memory card is very high as well, since the 128GB SanDisk Extreme Pro CompactFlash card will be available in Q1 2011 for a suggested retail price of $1,499.99.
