Free, ad-supported games

For those (many of you) who like online mobile games, a new portal that plans to offer lots of fun moments is launched: 123play. Coming with a really attractive "don't pay, just play" offer, 123play hosts free, but ad-supported games from well-known publishers like THQ Wireless, Digital Chocolate, RealArcade, Indiagames and Hands-On Mobile.

Free games are not something new, but this is one of those cases when "the more - the better" is a really good saying.

Currently in its beta version, the new 123play is operated by Mobile Advertising Solution Ltd. (also known as MAS) and provides games compatible with 19 of the most known (or unknown) phone brands, from Nokia and Sony Ericsson to Sendo and Huawei.

Since the games come for no money at all, you could think they might not be that cool. Well, you'd be wrong. 123play offers a wide variety of games, divided into four main categories: "Action & Arcade", "Casual & Puzzle", "Racing & Sports" and "For the Ladies", the last one actually being a (girly) selection from the first three categories. Among the notable titles, we have "Worms 2007", "Stuntman Ignition", "Funky Ducky", "Playman World Soccer", "Moto Racing Fever", "Sheep Mania", "Cake Mania" and "Garfield's Day Out". Pretty good to go for free, isn't it?

Needless to say, you need to own a Web-enabled handset to have access to 123play's games. And, if you don't have an unlimited data plan, you'll probably have to pay some data transfer fees, but not much.

At the moment, only users from the UK can download games from 123play, but we assume that, once out of beta, the portal will offer its services for mobile gamers from other countries too. Well, we're waiting for that, as well as for more games to be offered.
