Super Talent, a leading manufacturer of storage devices and memory, thinks that 120GD SSDs are going to be less pricey before the year's end. The company is already among the manufacturers that offer SSDs drives and its 120GB SSD can be bought for about $640 at major online stores. The good news is that Super Talent is of the opinion that 120GB hard drives, based on SSD technology, are going to be priced below the $300 range,
even before Xmas time.

As most of you know, SSDs are expected to become the next standard in the storage consumer market. Unfortunately, up to this moment, SSD drives continue to come with very high price tags, making them affordable only to a handful of users. Besides that, SSD drives currently offer less storage space than regular hard drives, which means that users need to acquire a greater number of these drives if they want to store large media files. And, unlike current hard drives, the SSD technology allows for a limited number of write cycles, which means that users will have to purchase a new hard drive each time the SSD breaks down.

But technology advances rapidly and hopes are high that, in the near future, both desktop and portable computer systems, as well as other storage-related products, will be based on this flash technology. Even more, should Super Talent's estimations become reality, we could have more affordable SSDs before the Christmas holidays. But even so, SSD drives still need improvement and, even if the price lowers, users would probably still rely on their current hard drives for storage support.

For the time being, the best SSD solution apparently comes from Super Talent, with its own 2.5-inch 60GB SATA Internal SSD, dubbed the FTM60GK25H. This model should set you back "only" $419, granted you purchase it from the official newegg website. However, say the price tag is a bit too high for you and the storage isn't what you expected, then take into consideration the fact that the drive is said to be inaudible and almost indestructible.
