14 DAY TRIAL // A new research conducted by security institute AV-TEST tried to determine the best malware-removal security solution for Windows 10 following a 12-month endurance test that involved no less than 897 individual evaluations for each product.
AV-TEST included a total of 8 security suites and 7 special tools and boot CDs for recovery in the test, running the research in two different stages: all tools were installed on an already-infected system and then they were evaluated on systems already protected but disabled temporarily to allow for the malware infection to occur.

A total of four security products managed to remove all malware samples in the tests without being impacted in any way by the infection: Avira Antivirus Pro, Kaspersky Internet Security 2016/2017, Malwarebytes Anti-Malware, and Avast! Free Antivirus 2016.
The security organization says Avira Antivirus Pro topped the charts because it removed all malware samples and cleaned the registry, scoring the best in all tests.
Symantec Norton Security, G Data Internet Security and Bitdefender Internet Security 2016/2017 also experienced good performance, but failed to defect malware in “one or two cases.”
Recovery tools performance
As far as recovery tools are concerned, AV-TEST explains that only Kaspersky Virus Removal Tool was able to detect all malware samples and remove the infections, while the others either failed to do so or didn’t spot the malware at all.
“Among the security packages, the paid product, Avira Antivirus Pro, demonstrated the best performance. But Kaspersky Internet Security 2016/2017, Malwarebytes Anti-Malware and Avast! Free Antivirus 2016 are also very highly recommended. What's more, the Avast software is available for free,” AV-TEST says in the results of its research.
Keep in mind that these endurance tests were performed to determine the best security product for removing the malware that exists on a computer and not necessarily to prevent an infection from reaching a system.
