We've been hearing stories about people getting addicted to their iPhones on a number of occasions, so the occurrence doesn't sound so outlandish anymore. It's a fact that we can become slaves to our electronics and feel lost in the world without them.

But the next piece will show you what happens when the love for one’s phone escalates to unimaginable heights.

Minor gets arrested over iPhone feud

It might be hard to believe, but the Boulder County Sheriff’s Office in Colorado placed a 12-year-old girl under arrest at the Boulder Juvenile Center after she was accused of attempted first degree murder, as reported by Fox 31 Denver.

After a two-week investigation, it was discovered that following a series of serious falling-outs with her mother, the pre-teen tried to poison the woman twice for the sole reason that she had tried to take her iPhone away from her.

The first time, the girl added bleach into a smoothie her mother started to drink. Luckily, the woman sensed the odd smell coming from the beverage, but she initially attributed it to her girl’s failure to rinse the glass properly.

However, after drinking the smoothie, she started feeling sick. She eventually recovered from it, but following the first event the women noticed the bleach smell again, this time coming from a water carafe in her room.

After the incident, the woman immediately confronted her daughter who eventually admitted she was trying to poison her out of frustration for being parted with her iPhone.

The woman alerted the police

It appears the mother was the one who reported the girl to the police. Following the report, police managed to gather enough evidence to sustain the case and take the minor into custody.

Most parents of teens are very much familiar with the struggles of trying to separate their offspring from their phones, but naturally, in most cases the child does not have such an extreme reaction.

The investigation is still ongoing and the District Attorney’s office is still to decide what charges to pursue. It remains to be seen if the DA can build a case against the girl, given the fact that they can no longer test the smoothie for bleach. It’s unclear whether the mother conserved the water carafe or not.
