For now, the information should be taken as a rumor

A few days ago, we told you that Apple started sending invites to its “Spring Forward” event scheduled to take place at the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts in San Francisco on March 9.

While everyone is expecting to see the Apple Watch go public once again, in its polished form this time, there might be something else that Apple will be showing us on the same date.

The 12-inch MacBook Air might be released on March 9

A report coming out from The Michael Report reveals that sources close to Apple and familiar with the matter at hand have said the Cupertino giant is looking to unveil the much-rumored Retina MacBook Air during the same event.

The information seems to be in line with previous reports produced by respectable Apple analysts such as KGI Securities’ Ming-Chi Ku and Oppenheimer’s Andrew Uerkwitz, who also expected the next-gen laptops to arrive in March.

Sources inside the supply chains have also said that Apple supplier Quanta actually began mass production of the notebook in January.

Also, Apple’s MacBook Air line received its last update in April last year, but the models still take advantage of non-Retina screens with the same display resolution we have seen ever since 2010.

Intel’s Core M Broadwell chips, which are expected to power the next-gen laptops, have been available since November, so everything seems to be in order to facilitate the unveiling of the new models.

Thus, the new Retina Display MacBook Air is expected to come devoid of a fan, in order to accommodate an ever sleeker profile. However, Apple might have traded in the full-sized USB port, MagSafe connectors and SD card slots to achieve this “Airiness.”

The new model is also expected to don a revamped trackpad without mechanical buttons, smaller bezels in the vein of the Retina MacBook Pro, and an edge-to-edge keyboard.

Apple might roll out updates for the entire MacBook Air line during the event

It’s possible that during the same event we will see Apple unveil updates for its 11-inch and 13-inch MacBook Air models as well.

The 12-inch version is believed to appeal to customers looking for a greater degree of portability and a more spacious display.

Keep in mind that The Michael Report is known to have a semi-accurate track record when predictions are concerned, so you’d better take this info with a grain of salt for the time being. After all, we’re just a few days away from the March 9 event, when all the details will come to light.
