Ok, so a 12-inch iPad isn’t very plausible, but a 12-inch MacBook sounds like a far better prospect. And KGI’s Ming Chi-Kuo agrees.

The analyst, working with KGI Securities, has gone on a forecast rampage this past week, dishing out predictions regarding Apple’s entire product line, including all-new categories of unreleased gadgets, like the iWatch and a big-screen TV.

His projections also include a 12-inch MacBook with a new design and a Retina display. Apple will launch it in 2014, according to Kuo.

“We expect the unprecedented 12” model will boast both the portability of the 11” model, and productivity of the 13” model. The high resolution display will also offer the outstanding visual experience of the Retina MacBook Pro,” the analyst writes.

“The offering will likely be lighter and slimmer than the existing MacBook Air to further highlight ease of portability in the cloud computing era. We think the form factor will showcase a much improved clamshell structure, and that it will redefine laptop computing once again following the milestone created by the MacBook Air,” says Kuo.

The KGI analyst seems to be sharing his sources with the people at DisplaySearch, who released a similar research note last week mentioning an all-new MacBook Air boasting a 12-inch, high-caliber display.
