Johanna Mazibuko has applied for the title of world's oldest person, at 119 years old. The Guinness Book of World Records is yet to confirm the record.

She has produced birth identification documentation which proves her age. She was born on May 11, 1894 in South Africa. She currently lives in Klerksdorp, near Johannesburg.

"God gave my life in abundance, plus a bonus. I am very old now," she says, according to HuffPost.

She is helped out by her son, Tseko, who is a senior himself at 77 years old. She manages to do laundry, cooking, and dressing on her own.

Tseko cannot stand up and move for a long period of time, but she tries to stay active.

She may take on the record title for oldest person in the world after the death of Jiroemon Kimura, which I have also reported on.

[Update, July 31 2013]: A previous version of this article included an error in mentioning Johannesburg as the capital of South Africa. It has been corrected.
