When most 11-year-old girls are playing with dolls, Cecilia Cassini is playing with fabric and creating her own designs. She already has an entire line of one-off pieces and she’s designed for Kelly Osbourne and Heidi Klum – soon, Cecilia will be coming to your TV set as well.
WWD reports that the wonder designer, who’s already made the talk show circuit and gotten nothing but praises for all those who’ve met her, will soon be starring in her own reality show.
Of course, it will not be a show like “Keeping Up with the Kardashians,” but rather a docu-series that will offer fans a glimpse in her life, while she’s juggling school and the love of her life, designing.
“Her wunderkind status, combined with her precocious personality, have made her a regular on the talk-show circuit, appearing on such shows as ‘Today’ and MTV’s ‘The Seven’,” WWD writes.
“And she has become a familiar face at New York Fashion Week, where she has mingled with designers Betsey Johnson and Diane Von Furstenberg. Now the sixth grader is set to star in her own reality TV series, the details of which are still under wraps,” the fashion publication further says.
An official confirmation of the docu-series is yet to come but one can’t help mentioning that, whenever it airs, it should be interesting to watch.
Cecilia is a very articulate girl who insists that, as a designer, he job is to offer kids her age precisely the kind of clothes they like to wear.
Unlike grown-up designers, she brings something new to the table in that she offers clothes and accessories as seen through the eyes of a kid.
“Sometimes adults create clothes for kids thinking that we don’t have sophisticated tastes yet. So what I’m bringing are very modern, high-fashion looks for kids from a kid’s eye. I know what girls my age want to wear,” she says for WWD.
Below is an older interview with Cecilia Cassini, in which she talks about her influences and how she’d dress up Lady Gaga, the only celebrity she dreams of designing for.
