A man has been arrested in Connecticut after lifting several bottles of nail polish from store shelves.

K Pop Starz reported that the theft occurred at a CVS location in Middletown, Connecticut. A man tried stuffing 102 bottles of polish into his garments and getting away with it.

42-year-old Marco Gonzalez has been charged with 5th-degree larceny after his nail varnish stint. He entered the store on Thursday, April 18, presumably wearing clothing a few numbers larger than necessary.

He walked directly to the nail polish aisle, attendants described. Once there, he picked out certain shades of products by Essie and Sally Hansen and attempted to hide them.

"[The suspect] started selecting and concealing Essie and Sally Hansen brand nail polishes into his sweatshirt," a rep for the Middletown police department tells reporters.

Police were called in at the CVS pharmacy facility some time before 9 p.m. When they arrived at the store, they found out that he tucked over 100 bottles of nail garnish in his sweatshirt and pants.

He was asked whether or not he was buying the items and told officers at the scene about his intent to steal them.

"[The suspect] said that he did not plan on paying for the nail polish," the officer arresting him informs.

The Essie and Sally Hansen bottles were priced at $8.49 (€6.52) each, which adds up to a loss of exactly $865.98 (€665.93) for the store.

There is no information on why the thief has incurred the need for so many nail polish bottles. According to a statement by a senior loss prevention officer with CVS, the store is pressing charges in the case.

Gonzalez was detained, charged and later released from jail after submitting the $10,000 (€7,700) bail which had been set for him.
