A 100-year-old piano used by John Lennon and Paul McCartney while filming “Help!” in 1965, the Beatles’ second movie, will be put up for auction in Liverpool, England, and it is expected to fetch more than £50,000 ($83,400/€60,730).

Paul McCartney wrote the famous song “Yesterday” on the 1907 Bechstein Concert Grand piano while the rock band were filming their second movie.

The valuable instrument was held in Twickenham Studios from around the 1930s up until its purchase by film director Richard Lester in the late 1960s.

The piano is now part of an auction that includes over 200 items of rare Beatles memorabilia and vinyl records. The auction will be hosted by Omega Auctions on March 20, 2014 at the Adelphi Hotel in Liverpool.

Apparently, the auction will coincide with the 50th anniversary of the release of The Beatles number one hit “Can’t Buy Me Love.”

The Beatles were an English rock band that formed in Liverpool, in 1960 and became arguably the most successful and influential act of the rock era.

“The piano is a fantastic piece of Beatles history. It’s amazing to think that 'Yesterday', a song we all know and love, was written on it,” a spokesperson for Omega Auctions in Stockport said, according to the Mirror.

“It was undoubtedly been used by a number of other important stars of stage and film but most significantly it was used by Lennon and McCartney during the filming of Help!,” the representative added.

Rare jackets worn by George Harrison and Ringo Starr during the filming of The Beatles film “Help!” will also go up for sale.
