The new Unity scopes are still not ready for deployment

The development of Ubuntu 13.10 (Saucy Salamander) is now well under way, but the integration of one particular component has been delayed.

When Ubuntu 13.04 (Raring Ringtail) launched, Canonical was blamed for the lack of new features. In truth, a feature called 100 scopes, that was supposed to be the highlight of the release, wasn't deemed worthy enough to make it.

The developers made a powerful case against including 100 scopes in Ubuntu 13.04 and they said the Ubuntu 13.10 would be the one to receive it.

As it turns out, 100 scopes hasn't been added in Saucy Salamander yet. This bit of information has been made available through the official mailing list.

“100 scopes still not landed in Saucy because of testing and autopilot failures which are currently fixed,” stated Canonical's Thomas Strehl in Unity APIs weekly.
