14 DAY TRIAL // Maylong, a US-based developer focused on personal navigation systems has just made available one of the cheapest Android tablets on the market. Maylong M-150 tablet is now available and “in stock” at Walgreen for just $99.99, which is $30 cheaper than the regular price ($129.99).
The device is on sale for more than a week now and proves to be an excellent product, even though it sells so cheap.
Maylong M-150 is powered by a ARM9(VM8505+) 400 Mhz processor and runs on the old Android 1.6 platform. It also features a 7-inches TFT resistive touch display with 800 x 480-pixel resolution, as well as stylus for a better control.
From its spec sheet we find out that the tablet includes 256MB of RAM, microSD card slot for memory expansion and Wi-Fi 802.11b/g connectivity.
The Android tablet measures 198x127x15mm and weighs 385.5g (including battery). The device does YouTube, Internet browsing, games, ebooks and pictures.
Even though it hasn't been included in the device's description, owners of the tablet report that it also includes a camera with recording capabilities.
Another interesting fact that I noticed from the device's picture is the IE browser icon that might suggest that M-150 comes with Microsoft's Internet browser.
I'm not sure if this is true or not, but I doubt that the developer got Steve Ballmer's approval for this.
Most likely it's a “photoshoped” picture, but everything is possible when it comes to very cheap devices, and that includes IE on an Android device.
For those that are looking for a cheap way to watch YouTube movies and browse the Internet while on the go, Maylong M-150 is a real bargain.
Expect the tablet to be pretty fast, as the low power CPU seems to have been designed by VIA, thus it may be more powerful than what's written on paper.
The sales package also contains a dongle for RJ-45 network and USB connection.
