
YouTube has announced officially that it has reached the 100 million videos per day milestone. In this context, the site has enforced its position as market leader in the online video segment.
Serving over 100 millions pieces of home produced videos each day, YouTube is the undisputed leader in Internet video search. This position is backed by its share of 29 percent of the U.S. multimedia entertainment market. Its ascendant trend has put it well in front of rivals MySpace Videos, Yahoo Video Search, MSN Video Search, Google Video Search and AOL Video.
According to research company Hitwise, News Corp.'s MySpace, the social networking site owns 19 percent of the market. Following it are Yahoo, Microsoft's MSN, Google and AOL, all of who have amounted to 3 percent to 5 percent of the video search market.
The free video service provided by YouTube accounts as of now for an excess of 60% of all the Internet watched movies, and the site has build a structure of advertising that orbits the surge of audience. The 30 employee company based in San Mateo, California has offered for viewing on YouTube an estimated 2.5 billion videos in June and claims that more than 65.000 videos are uploaded daily to the site.
