A 10-year-old girl has been charged for raping a younger boy in Houston, reports say. The unnamed child allegedly touched the victim in an "inappropriate" manner.

KRIV-TV relays a statement from the lawyer of the family, identified by Quanell X. The publication refers to the suspect as Ashley in a bid to protect her identity.

"I've never dealt with a child this young being accused of a crime. In fact this was nothing more than inappropriate horseplay that has now lead to a child that is ten years old being charged with aggravated rape," he says.

It appears that the child has been arrested and charged after a game of doctor and nurse. She allegedly touched a four-year-old boy in a private area.

"I was crying and they took me to the car and I didn’t want to get in and I was crying and I was moving and trying not to get in the police car and my Mom told me to calm down," she described the moment in which she was brought at the station for questioning.

She was arrested in April and she was detained in Harris County Juvenile Detention Center in June this year.

"When my Mom came to see me I said I wanted to go home and then she said I couldn’t go home and she was like I know you want to go home," she recalls.

The girl's mother claims that she has not been allowed to assist her daughter during the initial session of questioning. The Houston Police interviewed the girl for 45 minutes.

"It's a nightmare even having to go through something like this because that's my baby, that's my baby and just the thought of her going through something like this it hurts me," the woman describes.
