The Galaxy Tab 4 line-up has been hiding until now, but will soon be announced

The upcoming Samsung Galaxy Tab 4 series has been leaked some time ago complete with specs and we expected to see the tablet line-up appear at MWC 2014. But that’s didn't happen probably because Sammy feared the unimpressive slates will be overshadowed by the Galaxy S5 instead.

Nevertheless, it appears we’re going to be seeing the humble cousins of the power Galaxy TabPRO and NotePRO line appear sooner than later. The FCC has just approved the Samsung SM-T535, which was believed to be the 10.1-inch Galaxy Tab 4 with 4G LTE in tow.

The FCC documents now show LTE radio is present, along with Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n, GSM, W-CDMA and Bluetooth connectivity. We saw the SM-T530, which is the Wi-Fi only version of the tablet, go through the FCC some weeks ago, so we can speculate the tablet will be ready for an official announcement as soon as late March.

But don’t expect any confetti and fireworks when it happens. After all, this is a mid-range device and not a flagship model. If you were expecting the tablet to be on the low end of the spectrum, we can’t blame you, since initial information pointed towards that direction.

Anyway, a recent filing uncovered in the GFX Bench database shows the 10-incher won’t be that bad, as it will pack a decent quad-core 1.2 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 chip and run Android 4.4.2 KitKat out of the box.

Interestingly enough, the display size listed in the listing shows us this will be a 10.6-inch tablet with a resolution of 1280 x 800 pixels. That’s pretty odd, but it could turn out to be a mistake after all, so let’s not give it too much thought, at the moment.

We stumble upon another curiosity in the camera department too. The previously rumored 8MP back snapper has now been turned into a bland 3MP camera, while the front shooter remains 1.2MP. It would be a shame if that really turned out to be the truth.

Another bizarre element we noticed was in the RAM section, where we have 0.8/1.3GB listed combined with 16GB of internal storage. That’s probably 1 and 1.5GB for the Wi-Fi and LTE version respectively.

Anyway, don’t forget the 8-inch and 7-inch Galaxy Tabs are also coming, bundling the same 1280 x 800 pixel resolutions, quad-core Snapdragon CPUs and Android 4.4 KitKat.

At the moment, the biggest mystery regarding these slates is pricing, but we hope Samsung doesn't negatively surprise us in this department.
