10 Billionth Song About to Be Downloaded via iTunes

Apple has announced it is about to hit “one huge milestone for music” – 10 billion song downloads. The Promotion has already begun. According to Apple, it will end whenever the downloading of the 10 billionth song occurs.

“Help iTunes reach 10 billion song downloads, and you could win a $10,000 iTunes Gift Card,” Apple says on its website. “iTunes changed the way you buy music, making songs and albums available for download, day or night. Seven years later, we’re about to celebrate our biggest milestone for music, yet — 10 billion songs downloaded. Buy a song, and if it’s the 10 billionth download, you could win a $10,000 iTunes Gift Card. It’s our way of saying thanks,” the Mac maker explains.

The official rules say that the downloading of the 10 billionth song is considered to be either the downloading of the 10 billionth song from iTunes or the receipt of the non-purchase entry after the download of the 9,999,999,999th song, whichever comes first. For purposes of the Promotion, only entries submitted in this time period will be accepted, while Sponsor’s computer is the official time-keeping device for this promotion. The Sponsor is Apple.

There are two ways to enter the Promotion. The simplest way is to buy a song from iTunes. By downloading a song from the iTunes Store, you will be automatically entered into the Promotion. A non-purchase method is also available. Customers can go to http://www.apple.com/itunes/10-billion-song-countdown/entryform/, fully complete an online entry, including their name, complete mailing address, telephone number, and birth date. Users then hit the “Submit” button, once their online entry is complete. This method constitutes one entry into the Promotion, according to Apple.

Only 25 entries per person and/or iTunes account and/or email address, per day will be granted, regardless of which method of entry is used to enter the Promotion. The winner will be listed online at http://www.apple.com/itunes/10-billion-song-countdown/ roughly 10 days after the end of the promotion period.
