The British family that won Apple’s ‘10 Billion Apps’ contest is planning to spend the $10,000 iTunes Gift Card on more apps, according to an exclusive interview with Gail Davis, the mother.

Winning the prize also convinced the parents to upgrade their iPods and “join the party,” according to Davis, whose daughters had downloaded the winning app - Paper Glider - on January 22nd.

But this was before hanging up on Apple’s PR who had called on Saturday to confirm to Gail that her Apple ID was used for the 10 Billionth download, therefore the winner of the $10,000 iTunes Gift Card.

According to an exclusive interview with Cultofmac.com, Gail Davis of Orpington, Kent, UK, said “I thought it was a prank call. I said, ‘Thank you very much, I’m not interested’ and I hung up.”

“The girls came down and said it wasn’t a prank,” Davis explained. “I had a moment of panic.”

Davis reportedly tried to ring Apple back, but got an operator who wasn’t able to help.

“The more I thought about it, the more I realized it was a genuine call,” she said. “The girls were getting quite tense. They never would have forgiven me. They would have held it against me for all eternity.”

In roughly two hours, Apple’s VP of iTunes, Eddy Cue called, followed by one of Cue’s colleagues.

“I was hugely relieved,” said Davis. “I was getting really worried.”

According to Cultofmac, the mother said her daughters were already planning which apps to download with the newly-won $10,000 Gift Card.

Gail and her husband are thinking of buying new hardware so they can also benefit from the winnings.

“We’re thinking of upgrading our nanos so we can join the party,” she said.
