For people who don't feel that one or two large-capacity units are enough

Century has launched a device which shows that network-attached storage devices aren't the only type of external storage arrays that users want to buy.

The company has introduced the CRST1035EU3 "Sky Tower" external HDD enclosure, which can hold up to ten different hard drives.

Thus, it is different from, say, the Synology DiskStation DS413j NAS, which has its own processor, operating system, and ability to act as a server for a network.

Long story short, the Sky Tower is just made for USB 3.0 or eSATA direct PC connections.

Granted, the energy requirement is high enough to warranty an external power supply, and there is even a cooler built into the product (140 mm, 1,400 RPM, 34 dBA noise).

Unfortunately, there is no RAID support on this enclosure, so its use doesn't extend far beyond easy HDD stacking. The weight of 6 kilos doesn't add points either, nor does the size (178 x 385 x 330 mm / 7 x 15.15 x 13 inches)

September is when sales start, for around $470 / 372 Euro.
