ACH and transfer failure rogue messages are not rare, but this time they've hit the roof with more than 80,000 of these emails being sent to unsuspecting internet users who can always fall in the large number of traps set up by the cybercrooks.

Users are alerted that their transactions have failed and in order to view details they're pointed to a website that spreads tons of malware.

GarWarner reports that most of them point to a zfin.php file which is responsible for the actual infection process.

To make everything as realistic as possible, 10,000 subject lines and the names of around 7000 financial institutions were utilized in the hoax alerts.

Close to 2,000 legitimate websites were compromised to launch the operation which doesn't seem to give up. Unfortunately, this could be an indication that the scam actually works, otherwise the crooks would have stopped by now.
