Study shows Samsung owners want to jump ship

If you’re trying to find out which is the best smartphone right now, the answer pretty much depends on whom you ask. Some say Samsung’s are their first choice because they are the perfect mix of Android and modern design while others believe it’s the iPhone thanks to its premium design and iOS reliability.

But according to a new study conducted by GlobalWebIndex, Samsung phone owners actually think about jumping ship, and their next destination could be Apple’s iPhone.

No less than one in three Samsung phone owners admits they want to buy an iPhone, but the company that made the study claims that, in some cases, the answers vary depending on the region.

“There are some key regional difference here, however. While in Europe and North America Samsung owners are more likely to want another Samsung handset than a rival iPhone, in fast-growth regions Samsung owners are much more likely to say they would consider purchasing an iPhone. It’s in these regions where the status of the Apple brand could help it to poach significant numbers of users from its rival,” the survey explains.

Apple customers among the most loyal to the brand

Most people think that Apple customers are irrationally loyal to the brand, but there are plenty of studies that have shown that iPhone buyers are very likely to purchase the new model too, and chances to jump ship and buy an Android device are extremely slim.

A Morgan Stanley Research study that was performed in 2014 revealed that Apple reached a brand retention rate of 90 percent, which means that 9 in 10 Apple buyers are very likely to stick to the company when the next product comes out.

It’s hard to say, though, whether brand royalty is the key to success or not, but in Apple’s case, it certainly helps. iPhone sales have constantly increased since the very first version launched, and now they’re very likely to set a new record with more than 231 million units to be sold in 2015.
