And it has barely been a year since manufacture moved there

Until 2012, all Raspberry Pi miniature ARM computers were made in China, but production has been moved in the United Kingdom.

RS Components and Premier Farnell are manufacturing partners to the Raspberry Pi Foundation. Together, they've already managed to produce 1 million of these things.

It's a remarkable accomplishment really. Raspberry Pi started out as a little item meant to let students learn computer programming.

But people noticed its ability to turn TVs into Smart TVs, and become the basis for a bunch of other inventions, so hype just skyrocketed from there.

It didn't hurt that Raspberry Pi constantly lived up to that hype.

The Pencoed plant handling mass production of the small, micro PC is located in Wales and is owned by Sony. The millionth PC has been placed in a gold-plated case (made by Sony) and will be on display at the company headquarters for the foreseeable future.
