Asus has just unveiled the EN8800GT graphics card series to feature the latest generation of Nvidia GPUs as well as an extremely large onboard memory size. The video graphics card is designed to support hardcore gaming and provide the best multimedia playback at ultra-high resolutions.

The DirectX 10 compatible card integrates new features, such as SmartDoctor, to unleash new overclocking options for the Shader Clock. This would bring a 10 percent boost in the gaming performance, while the Glaciator Fansink design is committed to keep the GPU at optimal temperature even during heavy overclock. Asus claims that the new cooling system can keep the GPU temperature up to 7 degrees C cooler than reference designed boards.

"The ASUS EN8800GT/HTDP/1G is the first EN8800GT model in the world to leverage the Qimonda DRAM that comes equipped with 8pcs of 1GB GDDR3 graphics memory", said C.P. Wu, General Manager of ASUS Graphics and Multimedia Business.

The producer explains the addition of a massive amount of memory by the fact that even powerful graphics processing units can be plagued by performance bottlenecks due to insufficient or low-quality video memory. When the dedicated memory works under full load, the GPU needs to use the slower PC RAM. With the advent of newer games, such as the Crysis title, users' demand for video memory has increased.

The video card comes with the ASUS GamerOSD software, that allows the user direct overclocking while running the game and giving the system a performance boost each time it is necessary (such as increased number of particles rendered on the screen when using smoke grenades, for example). The software is also useful for those who like to record their gaming sessions or even broadcast them on the web in real time.
