The luxurious whiskey distillery Dalmore just released its most expensive product, The Dalmore Paterson Collection, a vintage delight of the company's oldest whiskey that comes with the jar-dropping price of $1.6 (€1.17) million.

The 12-bottle set is currently in the luxury department store Harrods in the Fine Spirits Room and it proudly wears the label of the Dalmore Paterson Master Distiller's “masterpiece of a lifetime.” Richard Paterson himself worked to see this collection become a reality and offers a rare insight into his craft through a handwritten ledger that comes with the bottles.

“The collection is housed within a magnificent bespoke cabinet, along with twelve handcrafted crystal decanters, each adorned with a sterling silver collar and stag,” the alcoholic set's description writes on Harrods website. Each of the twelve bottles is named after an important person that inspired and influenced Mr. Paterson throughout his carrier.

Richard Paterson dedicated the oldest whiskey the company had, dating back to 1926, to Alexander Matheson, the founder of the Dalmore distillery, and wrote about it in the collection's 200-page calfskin ledger. The hand-written book required 1000 hours to write and captures Richards feeling and thoughts regarding the set, according to Daily Mail.

“It represents the lifetime's work of one of the whiskey industry's most dedicated, respected and loved characters. Whoever buys this will own a truly unique collection of whiskeys as well as a little bit of Richard himself, as he put so much into its creation,” Bruce Langlands, one of Harrods' directors, says.

This may be the perfect Christmas gift for a man who already has everything he wants, or for a true whiskey passionate. But until the commoners may afford the luxurious “masterpiece of a lifetime” collection, we will settle with other alcoholic beverages for the holidays that won't empty a bank account.
