If you haven't yet seen the Russo brothers' latest comedy, take your time before hurrying up and throwing your money away on a movie that, although called a 'comedy', will barely make you laugh twice (that is, if you're lucky!) during the runtime of 108 minutes.
'You, Me and Dupree' has an impressive cast and the plot is pretty good, too, but it lacks everything that you would expect from such a publicized movie. Molly (Kate Hudson) and Carl (Matt Dillon) just returned from their honeymoon, only to find out that Carl's best friend, Dupree (Owen Wilson) will be moving in with them.
And the presence of the uncalled for guest isn't the only thing that disturbs the newlyweds' life. There is also Molly's father (Michael Douglas), who gives Carl a very bad time. And, to top it all, Mr. Thompson is also his son-in-law's boss.
So, there you have it: an uninspired mixture and tacky combination of 'The Wedding Crashers', 'Meet the Parents' and 'There's Something About Mary'. The characters are only superficially contoured, there is absolutely no substance to them and the only thing that might make one laugh are the all-too-well-known clichés of Owen Wilson.
In other words, think twice before going to see 'You, Me and Dupree' or, go and see it just if you really want to see what bad comedy it actually is. Anyway, the movie will probably be a commercial hit. It always happens that way...
