We all know that the computer system market is heading to small-sized, low-powered PCs that can provide the very basics in computing experience, including web access and a decent amount of storage space. However, if you have been looking for the world's smallest computer, you will probably not find it at some of those major manufacturers out there. As it turns out, the fit-PC Slim from a company called fit-PC can probably run for the title of the "world's smallest computer system."

Now, if you don't believe this, you should check out the specs on this little thing. First of all, we should tell you that you are looking at a device that weighs no more than 380g and measures 100mm x 110mm x 30mm. By now, you have probably started wondering what this small thing is capable of, given its physical specifications.

Well, when we get right down to it, the fit-PC Slim is powered by a 500MHz AMD Geode LX800 processor and runs on AMD's CS5536 chipset. It comes with integrated Geode LX display controller, which can output a maximum resolution of 1920 x 1440 pixels. The system is equipped with a maximum of 512MB of DDR 333MHz soldered on-board and sports a 2.5-inch IDE hard disk which will deliver up to 60GB of storage space.

On the connectivity side, it comes with an RJ45 Ethernet port, although its users will also be able to connect to the Internet through a wireless 802.11b/g connection. In addition, the Fit-PC Slim sports 3 USB 2.0 ports, two audio jacks for headphones and Mic and VGA port. The system comes preloaded with a Ubuntu 8.04 OS, but it seems that it can also run Windows XP Home SP3.

As far as pricing is concerned, a barebone model will go for $220, while a fit-PC Slim XP will go for $335, according to the company's website.
