The new reality show that will premier tonight on the SCI FI Channel is nothing like you've seen before. We are not sure yet if the term applies correctly to it, as it's more a joke than the real thing...
Basically, out of the thousands of contestants, Stan Lee, co-creator of 'The Hulk' and 'Spider-Man' picks only 11 fortunate ones who are to be taken into a secret lair and tested for their superhuman strength and skills.
Each week, two of them will be eliminated, with Lee playing the judge and jury, until only one is left standing. He or she will win never-ending life, by being immortalized in a new comic book to be created by Lee himself and a TV movie featuring the superhero he/she created.
The 11 finalists have already been chosen and their wacky outfits (and even wackier superpowers) gave them such names as Big Momma, Major Victory, Feedback, Monkey Woman, Creature, The Enforcer or Levity. They are normal people in ridiculously tight tights, pretending to be able to equal Superman's powers.
Actually, they won't be required to jump or fly from high buildings, but they will be tested for self-sacrifice, integrity, courage and resourcefulness. This week's test aims at seeing whether any one of them will stop from a race to the finish line to help a little girl crying for her mother.
The down side to the whole 'Who Wants To Be A Superhero?' contest lies in the fact that Lee misunderstood its concept from the very beginning. He doesn't want the contestants to have any fun at all, when that should be the first thing on his mind.
The famous creator is obviously too caught up in the Donald Trump thing to notice that he is confronted by a dozen of common people just playing dress-up. Instead, he should just let the show flow by itself and, surely, in this way it would more fun to shoot and watch.
