A new Macintosh documentary is set for its April 6 premiere, at the Wisconsin Film Festival. Symbolically dubbed Welcome to Macintosh, the documentary emphasizes the Mac's impact on people's lifestyle, and includes interviews with Mac Andy Hertzfeld, Guy Kawasaki, and Leander Kahney (author of "Cult of Mac" and "Cult of iPod").

"'Welcome to Macintosh' is a documentary that explores the many
ways Apple Computer (now Apple, Inc.) has changed the world. Whether a long time Mac fanatic or new to computers, Welcome to Macintosh takes you from the early days of the Apple-I to the latest and greatest Apple has to offer," welcometomacintosh.com reveals.

The Macintosh Community Network is also proud to announce... well, the Macintosh Community Network! "The Network is a place to get more information about the documentary, to create or join a discussion, or just meet other members of the Apple and Macintosh community!" the same source notes.

Co-directors Rizzo and Rob Baca are long-time Macintosh users, but also friends. Talking to dane101.com about the "Welcome to Macintosh" documentary and how they finally decided to shoot it, Rizzo stated: "There's something there that the creators put into the Macintosh where it has personality. It's fun, and it's real. It's not like it's just an inanimate computer ... I wished there was a movie that would encapsulate what it's like to be a Mac user, why we are Mac users, what the challenges have been."

The film idea, however, first hit Baca while shoveling his driveway in Columbus, Ohio. He thought that a movie about Macintosh for non-geeks would catch on.

According to Rizzo, their goal was to "make a film that you can show to a Windows person, or someone that has never really used a computer, and they'll understand the concepts, they'll understand the emotions, they'll understand why without necessarily knowing what they're about to sit down and watch."
