'The Body' Is Just Being Ridiculous

In the glamorous world of supermodels, looks is everything but a scene over who's looking better is absolutely childish and absurd. And that is exactly what Elle Macpherson - nicknamed 'The Body' - did at the 'Elle Magazine' 21th anniversary bash last week.

It seems that the 43-year-old model wanted to be the center of all attention, which is quite normal considering that she's a woman famous for her looks. Not so normal was her reaction when she reached the red carpet and learned that another model, Claudia Schiffer (36), was already there, gracefully smiling and posing with actor Rupert Everett.

From that, an entire scandal started, with Elle refusing to take off her coat, for fear that her black dress would not match Claudia's silver Versace gown, neither in beauty nor in the way it was worn. At one point, Macpherson was convinced to take off her coat but she started complaining about her hair and how it doesn't look half as good as Claudia's.

'I knew she'd be the center of attention. Look at her with him [Rupert] on her arm. It gives her the edge. I didn't know she'd be here. I want to leave. I want to leave now! [...] I know my hair is great, I love my hair. But Claudia's looks better. My hair looks rubbish compared to hers - it's been groomed for hours and mine is just natural', was all the fuming supermodel could say before asking to be seen out through the back door.

Not even Donatella Versace - the host of the party - could convince the enraged Elle to stay for a second more. Macpherson was escorted out, but her behavior completely surprised the other guests. 'It was hilarious. Elle was hiding her face behind her mac and kept looking into the mirror and pouting and adjusting her hair, saying, "You've got to get me out of here, please, please"', an insider told a British magazine, while trying to control his fits of laughter.
