Representatives from the movie company just announced that film critics will have to wait in line just like everybody else if they want to see their latest production. There will be no press screenings for 'Snakes On a Plane' prior to the official opening in select theaters, on August 17.
An opinion of the horror/thriller movie, featuring Samuel L. Jackson and tens of airborne snakes, has already been formed, on the Internet. Most people tend to believe that it will definitely become a smashing hit, due to its 'inherent cheese factor'.
Nevertheless, 'Snakes On a Plane' is a highly anticipated film and the Internet almost made it into a cult one. New Line refuses to admit that the reason for refusing the critics to be the first ones to see it might be their fear of getting negative reactions from them.
'Understanding that they [the fans] would be the driving force behind the film, we decided early on they should be the first to see it. We are not planning any advance media or promotional screenings prior to that [the release date]'.
They might have opted for publicized screenings and promotional tours but bad mouths are already saying that this would have affected terribly the opening weekend. Until its release, and because there will be no critics' opinions available, there is always the Internet if you want to know just how good 'Snakes' is.
