'Playing With Fire', a Kick in the Nuts

The chronicle of K-Fed's worst week ever

Without even mentioning the public and lengthy divorce that is coming straight at him and an imminent scandal in which the public has already decided that it will take Britney's side, Kevin Federline is yet again the subject of ridicule, for something that he did do (in the sense that he utterly failed to do), this time.

After a publicity campaign that lasted almost a year, Federline or K-Fed (or Fed-Ex, as he was just recently nicknamed) finally released his debut album and, it's maybe useless to state it, it was one of the biggest big flops in the history of music. And to think that he had to start his own record company just to have it out there, as no one was that willing to take a chance on him.

However, Kevin fought adversity, started his Federation Records and made it into all the major music and fashion magazines to promote it. His appearances on TV ranged from MTV's TRL to getting body slammed on WWE. But nothing could possibly prepare him for what was to come...

Not only did 'Playing With Fire' enter the Billboard at the number 151 spot, with sales of approximately 6,000 copies in the first weeks, but his concerts are equally poor. A couple of days ago, the aspiring rapper played for 20 per cent of the capacity of Webster Hall but that didn't make him change his mind about touring America.

So, amidst a media frenzy, he went on with his Chicago performance, on Wednesday night, at the House of Blues. There, he was greeted with boos and cries of boredom from the few 'fans' that came for the free tickets (another desperate attempt at gathering more people to his shows). Some of the audience brought 'Fed-Ex' signs with them, while one was escorted out by the police for having a banner saying 'Fed-Ex is a pussy'.

The Cleveland gig has already been canceled for lack of response from the public, i.e: people didn't want tickets, despite being handed out for free. So, the 'curiosity factor' Federline seems to be going out faster than a match on strong wind. I wonder, who will 'rap' from now about being a superstar who's married to a superstar, as he bragged in 'Lose Control'? The world is in mourning...
