Paris Hilton's album did not do so well in his first two weeks, neither in the US nor in the UK, being, in fewer words, a major flop. But, since Banksy has taken such a great interest in it as to doctor 500 items and place them in stores, it is rather likely that it will know a rise in sales from now on.
Robert Banksy, the 'guerrilla artist', is known for having sneaked in doctored versions of classic paintings or his own artwork into the major art galleries in New York, Paris and London on various occasions. And now, he aimed at the heiress turned singer's brand new CD.
His spokeswoman said that he took 500 CDs and re-worked them, by changing everything on them, from the cover image to the 'bubble' tracks. First of all, he took Hilton's image, bared her breasts and replaced her head with that of a dog, as cover photo. In the other pictures that are included in the CD case, he made her look like she was getting out of a fancy car and was surrounded by homeless people.
But the punch line was the 'Extra' detail added on the front, which specified the album included hits as 'Why Am I Famous?', 'What Have I done' and 'What Am I For?', instead of the all-too-familiar 'Stars Are Blind' or 'Fightin' Over Me'.

Out of the 500 art pieces, only 7 were recovered in two shops in Brighton and their managers already said that they plan to auction the fake copies, as they are real art, as opposed to the socialite's music album. Banksy's representative had this to say about what her client had done: 'They're very subtly done and do look like the original album. You have to look carefully to see what's he done. I don't like to speak on his behalf but I think he's saying you can be a celebrity but you don't have to do music'.
Police decided that they won't be pressing charges against the artist, as he is well enough appreciated to be given some 'leeway'. The same goes for the other artist who took part in the doctoring of 'Paris' and who made remixes of all the tracks included on it, a man who mysteriously signed himself as DM.
