After the public dumping of Tom Cruise from Paramount, with the studio's big executives citing as cause for the fall-off the megastar's 'unacceptable conduct', the latest rumor says Brad Pitt is the next in line for the 'Mission Impossible' franchise. Paramount needs a hit to make up for all that money it lost with Tom acting out in front of the cameras, say specialists, and the safest and most guaranteed way to get a box-office hit is to hire the famous hunk Brad Pitt. So, an insider let it slip that the studio is currently wooing Brad for the fourth part of the series, luring him with an amazing offer, reported of up to $26 million for the part, the biggest salary ever paid to an actor for a single film. '"Mission Impossible: IV" will not include Tom's character, agent Ethan Hunt. They're considering a brief mention, saying Hunt retired to live a sage life with his new wife. They're set on Brad taking over as a gutsy new head operative who puts together his own unique team of specialists', the insider told the newspapers. The unnamed source also claims that Paramount chose Brad also for the fact that he has starred before in action movies, with all of them being massive hits at the box-office. A publicist for the star of 'Mr. and Mrs. Smith', 'Spy Game' and the 'Ocean' series refused to make any comment on the rumored offer.
